Projects and Programs of the
Junior League of Greater New Britain

Since 1958 the annual projects and programs of the Junior League of Greater New Britain have been initiated as part of the Junior League's commitment to building better communities.

Community Projects:
The Junior League supports the Greater New Britain community through various projects serving different community needs, such as, managing the baggage tent for the Race in the Park and renovating the teen room at the New Britain Public Library. Working as a community partner with local non-profits, the members of the Junior League have contributed funds and countless volunteer hours towards improving the Greater New Britain community.

Annual Scholarship Program:
Each year, JLGNB offers a total of four scholarships to graduating seniors in New Britain, Berlin, Southington, and Plainville. In keeping with our mission, the recipients are chosen based on their overall merit, leadership, extracurricular activities, and above all, their commitment to volunteering within their community during their high school years.

In the 2006-2007 year we amended the program to include a program through Charter Oak College, in New Britain. This program allows single mothers with children and past college credit, to complete their Bachelors Degree.

We are proud to announce that two high school students, one from New Britain High and one from Berlin High, have been awarded $1,000 each this year.

Two women from Charter Oak College were also awarded $1,000 each this year, with matching contributions from another organization.

We wish all recipients the best for the future.

Information on how to be considered for this annual program can be found in High School guidance offices, or can be requested by writing to the Junior League of Greater New Britain at the beginning of January.
